Happily Evah or if I was Sleeping Beauty what the Fairies gave me

Bad Fairy Good Fairy
by Emmanuel Ojo

Bad Fairy Bad Fairy
Gave me wickedness.
Bad Fairy Bad Fairy
Put me in a misery life.
Bad Fairy Bad Fairy
Gave me bad behaviour.
Here comes the Good Fairy.
Good Fairy Good Fairy.
The one I have been waiting for.
Good Fairy Good Fairy.
I have been waiting for my obedience and love.
Once upon a time I thought I’d never have it.
What a wonderful ending!
Good Fairy Good Fairy.

Brooklyn Youth Occupy …

Wall
by Sherace Calder
To be a wall of different length
it straight,no sides, nothing can define what it truly is.
My wall is imaginary.
I’d advise you not to cross my wall
Imaginary or not.
Like the walls of my room.
It my safe space.
My walls are whom I am.
My walls are a part of me.
My walls are my identity.

Street
by Kevaughn Nugent
When I think of Street
I think of rapping and beats
Music sheets
What people gotta do to eat
I preach
Only the fattest of the fattest will survive
If not you will be the only one impeached

Brooklyn College Art Lab (BCAL)

In 2005, BCCP created the Brooklyn College Art Lab, an interactive, educational, and recreational space on the college campus. Envisioned as the hub of our network of sites, staff, and students, BCAL is one of BCCP’s most successful and innovative programs.

Each day, youth from across our program sites come to BCAL to participate in its full-scale after-school programming, and to take advantage of BCAL’s youth-centered activities and resources.

On a visit to BCAL, you are likely to find youth producing digital music in the professional music studio, while others learn how to play live instruments and perform their original songs. Students can learn how to cook healthy food options with our culinary chef, edit videos in the Mac lab, or play basketball games on the indoor court.

In BCAL’s College Access room, youth can take part in workshops on financial aid, finding the right scholarships and get the help they need to fill out college applications led by the Director of College Access.
